Detailed description of Rosewood Lakes Golf Course, CLOSED 2015
Rosewood Lakes Golf Course is a public 18 hole golf course located in Reno, Nevada.
Rosewood Lakes Golf Course first opened for play on July 1, 1991. The course was designed by Brad Benz.
Rosewood has provided golfers from all over the world extraordinary golf surrounded by the natural beauty of the Nevada desert. Panoramic mountain views, well-maintained greens, bunkers, and fairways blend with nature in perfect harmony.
Four sets of tees ranging from 5,082 to 6,693 yards make the course challenging for all levels, even the most serious enthusiast. Winding through sixty acres of federally protected wetlands which provide food, water, and shelter to an abundance of wildlife and waterfowl, golfers frequently get surprise visitors.
Rosewood is a member of the USGA'S Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program. The facility is the annual host site for the Reno/Sparks City Amateur Championship.
Rosewood Lakes Golf Course closed in 2015 due to the construction of the Southeast Connector.
At this time, per Reno City Council, City staff is exploring a public/private partnership to develop, operate, and maintain a proposed “Pembroke Recreational Complex.”

The greens are in great shape this time around (made two 20 footers) and the fairways are getting better. However, if you can't keep the ball in the fairway, better pack at least two sleeves with you- no forgiveness at this course for errant golf balls! Its either rushes or water

Many of the fairways are Canadian Goose picked- Lots of deep craters at key areas of the course like just around the greens and at edges of fairways so that one has to hack out of bad divots - On the other hand the greens were in better condition than in past years.

The greens have been really good. Fast. One negative this time of year is the goose crap.

Rosewood Lakes, a target golf course. This course can be extremely average in difficulty, which for beginners this is a great course. Tip if you are a beginner going to this course...use your irons to tee off on MOST holes. For experts, the course is a good challenge from the back tees, but good golfers will definitely post low numbers consistently here...just gotta know where to hit it!
